The Silenus 2011 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon is our top wine and is a classic expression of Napa Cabernet Sauvignon. The wine is aged in 100% new French oak barrels for 22 months. 75% of the blend is from the Clone 337 block of Cabernet Sauvignon that is planted over an ancient riverbed comprised of stones and volcanic soils from the mountains to the west of the vineyard. These soils produce fruit with dense flavors and near perfect tannins.
This wine has a very deep ruby red color. On the nose the wine is fragrant and complex with wild berries, cedar and dark chocolate. The palate is lively, rich and full with concentrated flavors of black cherry, plum, raspberry and chocolate all framed by cedar and toasted oak. The finish is long and silky with dried fig, cherries, cola and black currant. The wine will evolve over the next 20 years. Drink it in its youth to experience its power or age it to understand its depth.
