All of the vineyards used in this Merlot are located in the southern portion of the Napa Valley. Due to the proximity of the San Pablo Bay, this area of Napa Valley tends to be a bit cooler throughout the summer, which is critical for growing rich and complex Merlot. 2013 was an ideal growing season with dry conditions and a long, sunny summer. These conditions resulted in an elegantly balanced wine with exceptional depth and structure.

Tasting Notes:

Notes of cedar, toasted vanilla, and sweet spice enhance a complex nose of ripe red cherry, raspberry, and plum. The palate structures the red fruit, oak and cedar with an underlying dark chocolate and leather. The wine is wonderfully balanced with fruit, acidity, and oak all contributing to a classy and delicious wine. The finish is intense and long with ample tannins that ensure this wine will age for years.
