The Ranch 9 vineyard is located on the South-East end of the Napa Valley. Due to the proximity to the San Pablo Bay, this area of Napa Valley tends to be cooler during the afternoon, which is critical for growing rich and complex Merlot. The 2014 vintage was an early and ideal growing year. Although bud break and verasion were much earlier than usual, the normally hotter months of July and August were milder than normal, which led to excelled extended ripening weather.

Tasting Notes:

Lovely aromas of ripe plums, sweet spice, vanilla and oak grace the nose. Bright and lush red fruit flavors of cherry and plum are followed by dark chocolate and mouth-watering raspberry flavors on the mid-palate. The finish is very long and filled with reverberating flavors of cherry, espresso and vanilla. This Merlot is wonderfully balanced with fruit, acidity, and oak all contributing to a classy and delicious wine. Serve with juicy steak, thick pork chops, or tender roast chicken. This wine also pairs well hard and soft cheeses. Enjoy!
