This is an extremely small production wine made from 100% estate grown fruit from a vineyard that is located between Dry Creek and our Barrel Room. The vineyard is warm during the day but cools down significantly at night, perfect for this varietal.
This vineyard’s location in both the Oak Knoll District and next to Dry Creek imparts classic Cabernet Franc aromas of violet and perfume along with underlying peppery and herbal flavors. These are complimented by the ripe red fruit flavors of Cabernet Sauvignon. The wine was aged in 50% new French oak barrels for 22 months. This bottling is designed to present Cabernet Franc in its own intriguing glory.
Our Cabernet Franc is a deep and concentrated ruby red wine with slight purple undertones. The bouquet of this wine has pretty flavors of black plums, bing cherries and the slightest hint of spearmint leaves. On the palate, this wine is perfectly balanced between flavors of ripened raspberries and blackberries followed by toasted oak and dark cocoa. This is a sophisticated and complex red wine that pairs beautifully with an herb crusted rack of lamb or grilled portobello mushrooms.
