The Tyros Merlot comes from three different vineyards all in Napa Valley. The largest contributor at 75% is Ranch 9, a vineyard on Monticello Road in the Southeast section of the valley near the city of Napa. 16% comes from the Mitchell Vineyard which sits half way up the hill on the west side of the Napa Valley near the town of Yountville. The final 9% comes from the Darms Lane vineyard the Oak Knoll District of Napa Valley. Due to the proximity to San Pablo Bay, all of these vineyards benefit from morning fog and cooler afternoon temperatures critical for growing rich and complex Merlot.

The wine was aged for 30 months in 60% new French oak and the rest in neutral barrels. This blend of oak integrates perfectly with the lush fruitiness of the wine and lends just the right amount of tannins for a perfect balance.

Tasting Notes:

Aromas of raspberry compote, vanilla and cedar on the nose lead to a palate of bright fruit flavors of cherry, plum, baking spice and toasted oak. The tannins are soft and rich and balanced perfectly with the deep fruit flavors and French oak tones. The finish is long, smooth and rewarding.
