The 2011 Silenus Cabernet Franc is the inaugural vintage for this exciting new addition to the Silenus family of wines. Normally the Cabernet Franc is blended with Cabernet Sauvignon or Merlot in small percentages to lend complexity and depth. This bottling is designed to present the Cabernet Franc in its own intriquing glory.
The wine has a very inviting nose which mixes of ripe fruit aromas of cherry and plum with herbal aromas of mint and fennel all couched in oak aromas of French vanilla and hazelnet. On the “attack” it has a lush, generous fruitiness but on the finish the flavors transition to include darker flavors of espresso, dark chocolate and toasted oak.
