This is an extremely small production wine made from the Combs vineyard located about 1 mile North of Silenus Winery. The vineyards share the same alluvial fan soils and are just over the line from Oak Knoll into Yountville. The vineyard gets the same cool evening breezes but does tend to be slightly warmer during the day, perfect for ripening Malbec.

The Combs family has been farming the same land for over 50 years and has shared the same vineyard manager as Silenus Winery for the last 30 years. The small plot of Malbec is located close to Solano Avenue at the base of the hill and benefits from afternoon sun and heat.

The wine was aged in 50% new French oak barrels for 22 months.

Tasting Notes:

Dark, brooding and inky in color, this Malbec hits with aromas of marionberry pie, cola and jammy red fruit. The bright, elegant palate showcases intense black cherry, pomegranate, plum with hints of coffee, tobacco and black pepper. The finish is deep, long and lush with sweet tannins. This is a sophisticated wine to enjoy on its own or accompanied by lean game meats, lamb and turkey.
